Hi! My name is Mia Norlander. I’m a Portland, Oregon native, lover of Pacific NW beauty and a Scandinavian enthusiast. In my early 20’s I fell in love with floral design while helping a friend with wedding flowers. She encouraged me to pursue it as a career so I attended the Floral Design Institute in Portland through which I was able to get a job in an event floral and rental business in Astoria, OR. Astoria has always been my second home because that is where my father grew up after immigrating to the States from Finland and where my grandma still lives. Astoria is also steeped in Scandinavian culture and full of friends and relatives still speaking the language. I fell in love with the area and the ability to get closer to my roots while also doing a job I loved. A year later I took a job at Bloomin Crazy where I was taken under Diane’s wing and became her assistant manager. I learned so much from her and she in turn gave me a great amount of creative and managerial freedom that allowed me to grow as a designer.
In 2016 I finally found my soulmate, Ken, and less than a year later I got to design my dream wedding. Soon after getting married we moved to Portland, a city we both love. While going through all the wild and crazy changes, everyone around me encouraged me to take the leap into starting my own business in wedding floral design so here I am, taking the leap and doing what I love.
When I’m not playing with flowers I enjoy biking, kayaking and hiking, as well as diy furniture, knitting, gardening and cooking. I also love to travel, especially back to Scandinavia where I always get creatively inspired. My biggest inspiration, though, is people. Everyone has a story about how they got to where they are. Those stories mold us, those stories are what make us all special and unique. Those stories are what inspire me to create one-of-a-kind wedding designs.
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
